postal strike attack

Couple of weeks ago super funny illustrator /artist Riitta Ikonen gave us a talk. I am seriously in love with her. She is amazing!!!! After the talk she gave us a task to make a postcard and send it to anyone we wanted to. Brief had something to do with current situation here in England with big postal strikes taking place. That day I didn't have any art materials with me so I made my card out of clear sellotape and sent it to my sis as she is the only person who's address I remember. Oh well, I do remember my parents address as well... She hasn't mentioned recieving any odd cards yet so guess it is stuck somewhere in English post system. The translation for the text is roughly: This is a test if the post of England works. You are the best. Simple and stupid really.

witch business in the Kingdom of Slugs

My sister Kiira came to London this summer. She stayed more than a month which still went too quickly. Before she left we absolutely had to have a photoshoot session! We went with our white faces and curious assescories to the wood near my house. The only light we had was the flash of the camera and little did we know about billions of slugs crawling around us...and top of us. Until too late ofcourse.

Ms Motivator!

Mr Motivator = my inspiration

Ms Motivator = ME!!!

On our Leisure centre Exhibition we had lots of workshops too. I wasn't part of planning team or responsible in anyway but couldn't resist the temptation when I was asked to do some modelling for life drawing! As the whole theme was sports even modelling wasn't just modelling. I was pretending to be a gym instructor and took very sporty poses. It was bloody hard work and way less energetic than what my idol and inspiration Mr Motivator does on morning tv!

very sporty exhibition

After the first year we organised an exhibition in Camberwell Leisure Centre. When I first heard about it I got very excited and quite quickly did my "diving simulator girl" photos. After that I lost my interest and thought that I would not have any work up there as I was visiting Finland just before the show...and other bad excuses. Literally on the last possible night I changed my mind again and rushed my photos on frames and painted a mini sized picture to go along. I am not that stupidly proud of my final product but would have been so much more dissapointed at my self if I wouldn't have done anything.

The Bas Movie!

Bas DVD covers

My first ever animation needed good packaging. Ofcourse!

Bas sketchbook

This is the cover of my sketchbook about Bas Jan Ader and below are some pages.

He was a rather melancholic person. I was most intrigued by his performance where he just cried. He was too sad to tell...

He also performed rather dangerous tricks such as cyckling to river or falling down from everywhere. All this behaviour reminded me of sad clowns.

So in my film Bas the main character is this sad clown. I also came up with these "too sad to sing birds" as just side characters.

When dsigning his boat I used the actual Guppy 13 as model. Guppy 13 was the type of boat he tried to cross Atlantic in...and got lost...and presumably died

This is the beginging of the storyboard for my film.
